Pre-Conference Training

The pre-conference training will be held the day prior to the conference, November 9th. Pre-conference training will take place at Montclair State University Conference Center, on the 7th floor of Montclair State University Hall.

eLearning Tool Discovery - Let's Build Some Courses

Selecting only one elearning application is like giving a carpenter only one type of hammer. Discover that different content and needs drive the use of different elearning tools, and how those tools may be used together to create a robust courses.

In this session you will build 3 small courses with many elearning tools. This training is designed to give you hands-on experience with many different tools so you may select software appropriate for your organization. In many cases, many tools are used together to create both content and tracking structures, therefore, integration points will be discussed as well. Development tools include:

  • Captivate
  • Articulate
  • Flash
  • Unison
  • Screen Video/Screen Capture
  • Photoshop/Fireworks
  • Audio

After attending this course, you will be able to select the ideal tool(s) for turning your current corporate training materials into a viable e-learning program.

Using Adobe Flash™ to Create eLearning

In this 1 day course you will learn how to create effective and engaging web-based courses using Flash and some of the Flash Learning Interactions. You will learn how to do everything from course architecture for creating a reusable course player to simple interactions. You will also learn how to create Flash based templates that you can re-use for different courses and even work with some of the quiz interactions provided to you by Adobe's eLearning Suite.

In this hands-on, practice-packed workshop we cover these topics:

  • What is possible with Flash and e-Learning
  • Understanding Course Architecture
  • Basic approaches to creating Course Architecture for Creating a Modular Course Player
  • Using Flash to Create Re-Usable Learning Interactions (Creating and Re-Using Interactions you build)
  • Using the Included Quiz Questions, such as Multiple Choice, True or False, Fill in the Blank, and More.
  • Tracking student data using SCORM

NOTE: This course will use Adobe Flash version CS5, but nearly all of the skills will also apply to Flash CS4 & CS3.

Prerequisites: Foundation in Adobe Flash.

Jeff Batt is a Product Trainer for Rapid Intake. He has helped hundreds of new e-Learning developers build effective e-Learning courses without requiring any programming.
